Hello! My name is Joe Mulvihill and I am an Assistant Director on short form productions. I entered the industry in 2016 and have since worked on hundreds of productions ranging from adverts and music videos to features and live events. My career goal is to be a successful 1st AD in the commercial industry which I will achieve by developing further into the AD Department.
Having been trained under successful 1st ADs such as Tristan Hefele and Paul McCann, my goal on set is to capture what is needed within the time available whilst maintaining a happy, productive crew. It is important to me to be able to create solutions to problems and engage with the dynamic nature of productions.

In 2010 I started my journey on a film production BTEC course where I achieved the second highest possible grade. It was an explorative time in my life and whilst there I made terrible films and lifelong friends. It introduced me to exciting opportunities and led me to university.
In 2015 I graduated from The University of Portsmouth with First Class Honours having studied Television and Film Production. Throughout my higher education I filmed as much as I could and finished by directing two 10 minute first class awarded projects: a short film passion project following the bonding of an old man and his grandson through unconventional methods; and a documentary for Portsmouth Council for victims of forced marriage.
Following university I made it my mission to enter the film production industry. I attended The Runners Bootcamp ran by Dan Gibling and Steve Wingrove. It gave which introduced me to new methods of finding work.
